PPI Diary – Day 9 – Very Helpful Gill from Nationwide
I’d decided that I was going to try my hand at a bit of this PPI reclaiming lark, and to start this task, I thought I’d try and reclaim some money for a credit card I had with Nationwide. There were some challenges I had to overcome. I could not remember when I took the card out, when it was paid off, or what the credit limit was. So, some work was required. I phoned Nationwide and went through the rigmarole I was quickly getting used to; of being asked to provide the information I was trying to request to prove who I am. Class. I gave up and decided I would need to go into branch.
The following weekend I did just that. I went in and asked to speak to someone about what I was after. I was asked to wait, and then a very helpful lady called Gill meandered over. She asked what I was hoping to achieve and then took me over to a little booth round the corner. She asked some questions and began tapping away in that scary way that people do sometimes, when they look like there fingers are automatic (like Data from Star Trek for the Trekkies out there). Anyway, she asked me why I was after this information. She seemed a bit confused when I mentioned PPI, like she had never heard of it before.
She was successful in finding the account number, and then she phoned credit card services to let them know I was who I was claiming to be. The person on the other end of the phone was able to give me some of the information I was after, but suggested that I write in to get the rest of it as it was stored in a different building. I said I would. Although I only came away with most of what I wanted, instead of all of it, I had gone in with nothing, so over all I was impressed. I was also grateful to the very helpful Gill, who never gave up trying to get me the information I wanted. If you see her around, please give her a high five and a pound.
