High Five for ATMs!
Now I don’t know about you, but I sometimes need a small amount of cash, maybe I’m popping out for a quick pint, or I just want a pint of milk and a loaf of bread. At these times I do find it annoying that I have to withdraw £10 or £20 from a cash point. I find it much more likely that any cash in my wallet is going to get spent, and therefore I prefer not to have too much cash on me. So, I’m naturally delighted to hear that the Bank of England has announced that it wants to ensure that more ATMs stock fivers. At the moment only 2.3% of cash machines issue £5 notes, and these are mostly in student areas (I remember these well!)
I think this is great news, and shows (albeit in a very small way) that we do get listened to occasionally. Apparently a survey conducted by the Link cash machine network showed that 74% would be happy for ATMs to stock £5 notes, and if it helps people save money, than I am very keen. High fives all round!
